The reservoir, which was built between 1962 and 1970 serves Thac Ba Hydropower Plant.
Thac Ba Lake covers a total area of 23,400 hectares, including 19,050 hectares of the water surface. It is 80 kilometres long.
The lake is endowed with pristine beauty.
Many people boat on the lake or go there for fishing.
Many local residents set up tents on small mountains by the lake for farming and cattle breeding.
The lake often attracts visitors on weekends.
Thac Ba Hydroelectricity Plant was Vietnam’s first hydro-power station and was built from 1964 to 1971 with support from Russia.
