Hang’s father Nguyen Manh Hung, 52, has been suffering from a brain haemorrhage for many years. He is bedridden and tortured by pain. Sometimes, he screams loudly from the pain. The family is too poor to cover the treatment, so Hung mostly takes pain relievers.
Meanwhile, Hang’s mother Nguyen Thi Van is blind in one eye after an accident. Since then, her health has worsened.
Van said that her husband has some mental problems due to being affected by meningitis when he was six. The situation has worsened since he was diagnosed with a brain haemorrhage more than 10 years ago.
Tran Minh Khoi, vice chairman of Van Thang Commune People’s Committee, said that Van’s family is among the poorest in the locality. Hang is at risk of leaving school.
