According to the ministry's report, most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 59 out of 63 localities in the country with five localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (843), Phu Tho (386), Gia Lai (341), Yen Bai (280), and Nghe An (262).

As of Friday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 10.64 million. The country now stands 12th among 227 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include Hanoi (1,585,297), HCM City (608,337), Nghe An (481,271), Bac Giang (385,156), and Binh Duong (383,380).

On April 29, an additional 3,225 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 9,245,528.

On Friday evening, one death related to Covid-19 were announced in Bac Kan Province, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 43,038.

Vietnam on April 28 administered 887,474 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, raising the total number of doses given to local people to over 214.53 million.
