Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCM City is carrying out different measures to mitigate congestion during the coming Reunification Day and May Day holiday.

The airport is forecasted to serve 740 flights with around 75,000 passengers per day during the holiday, including around 65,000 at the domestic terminal, up around 25 percent compared to normal days.

Between April 29 and May 4, the airport’s domestic terminal will serve up to 3,784 flights.

To avoid congestion, passengers are advised to come to the airport more than two hours before departure. Travellers should finish online check-in procedures to save time.

The airport has asked airlines to ensure flight schedules are as up-to-date as possible for passengers. Airlines have also been requested to conform to their allocated slots and ensure flights leave on time.

Two bus routes have also been added to serve passengers at the domestic terminal. The airport will also use more lanes for app-based taxis to meet increased travel demand.

Tan Son Nhat International Airport runways 25R/07L and 25L/07L were put into operation again on April 25 after being upgraded. During the runway closure on February 21, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam had reduced flights at Tan Son Nhat to 30 per hour, down from the usual 36-48.
