Vietnam on Saturday confirmed additional 10,365 Covid-19 cases, raising the total number of infections in the country to over 10.55 million, according to the Ministry of Health.
Most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 59 out of 63 localities in the country with five localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (978), Phu Tho (753), Bac Giang (556), Quang Ninh (538), Nghe An (456), and Yen Bai (440).
As of Saturday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 10,554,689. The country now stands 12th among 225 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include Hanoi (1,539,772), HCM City (607,962), Nghe An (479,143), Bac Giang (383,164), and Binh Duong (383,163).
On April 23, an additional 2,229 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 9,081,494.
On Saturday evening, a further six deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 43,004. The high fatalities were reported in some localities including Cao Bang (1), Dong Nai (1), Ha Tinh (1), Kien Giang (1), Phu Tho (1), and Quang Binh (1).
Vietnam on April 22 administered 708,730 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, raising the total number of doses given to local people to over 211.99 million.
