Vietnam reported an additional 24,623 Covid-19 infections on Wednesday, raising the national tally to 10.29 million, according to the Ministry of Health.
According to the ministry's report, most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 62 out of 63 localities in the country with five localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (1,727), Phu Tho (1,627), Vinh Phuc (1,147), Nghe An (989), and Yen Bai (972).
As of Wednesday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 10,297,587. The country now stands 12th among 225 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include Hanoi (1,527,942), HCM City (603,976), Nghe An (418,676), Binh Duong (382,112), and Bac Giang (377,326).
On April 13, an additional 13,887 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 8,770,994.
On Wednesday evening, a further 20 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 42,878. The high fatalities were reported in some localities including Bac Lieu (3), Can Tho (3), Kien Giang (3), Dong Nai (2), and Dong Thap (2).
Vietnam on April 12 administered 214,550 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, raising the total number of doses given to local people to over 208.81 million.
