The Vietnamese Ministry of Health on Thursday reported an additional 45,886 Covid-19 infections, raising the country's total tally to over 10 million.
According to the ministry's report, most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in all 63 localities in the country with five localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (3,635), Bac Giang (2,267), Phu Tho (2,174), Yen Bai (2,167), and Nghe An (1,965). Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Gia Lai provinces today added 32,342 and 12,000 more infection cases respectively to the national tally.
As of Thursday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 10,070,692. The country now stands 12th among 225 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include Hanoi (1,514,982), HCM City (600,037), Nghe An (410,099), Binh Duong (380,590), and Vinh Phuc (351,349).
On April 7, an additional 117,503 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 8,395,066.
On Thursday evening, a further 21 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 42,733. The high fatalities were reported in some localities including Kien Giang (4), Cao Bang (2), Soc Trang (2), Thai Binh (2), HCM City (2), and Vinh Long (2).
Vietnam on April 6 administered 144,240 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, raising the total number of doses given to local people to over 207.37 million.
