According to the ministry's report, most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in all 63 localities in the country with five localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (7,734), Nghe An (3,226), Dak Lak (3,099), Phu Tho (3,087), and Yen Bai (2,998). The northern province of Vinh Phuc today added 13,498 more cases to the national tally.

As of Friday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 9,650,663. The country now stands 12th among 225 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include Hanoi (1,782,516), HCM City (595,310), Nghe An (395,097), Binh Duong (377,548), and Hai Duong (345,273).

On April 1, an additional 87,463 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 7,606,476.

On Friday evening, a further 33 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 42,526. The high fatalities were reported in some localities including Phu Tho (4), Bac Lieu (3), Bac Giang (2), Ben Tre (2), Dong Nai (2), Nghe An (2), Phu Yen (2), and Soc Trang (2).

Vietnam on March 31 administered 231,292 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, raising the total number of doses given to local people to over 206.33 million.
