Vietnam sees decline in Covid-19 cases as it recorded 127,878 infections on Wednesday, which is a fall of 2,853 cases compared to yesterday's figure, according to the Ministry of Health.
According to the ministry's report, most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in all 63 localities in the country with five localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (13,005), Phu Tho (5,307), Nghe An (4,425), Lang Son (4,408), and Bac Ninh (4,398). The northern province of Tuyen Quang today added 12,954 more infection cases to the national tally.
As of Wednesday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 8,479,751. The country now stands 14th among 225 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include Hanoi (1,217,105), HCM City (586,910), Binh Duong (364,978), Nghe An (360,496), and Hai Duong (326,098).
On March 23, an additional 192,465 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 4,661,270.
On Wednesday evening, a further 61 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 42,075. The high fatalities were reported in some localities including Bac Lieu (5), Binh Duong (4), Hanoi (4), An Giang (3), Dong Nai (3), Lam Dong (3), Lao Cai (3), and Quang Ninh (3).
Vietnam on March 22 administered 1,115,043 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, raising the total number of doses given to local people to over 203.14 million.
