According to the ministry's report, most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in all 63 localities in the country with five localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (16,014), Phu Tho (5,920), Nghe An (4,820), Lao Cai (4,544), and Hai Duong (4.219). The four northern provinces of Thai Binh, Hung Yen, Quang Ninh, and Vinh Phuc today added 35,000, 33,331, 26,400, and 23,687 more infection cases respectively to the national tally.

As of Tuesday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 8,338,914. The country now stands 14th among 225 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include Hanoi (1,204,100), HCM City (585,328), Binh Duong (363,521), Nghe An (356,071), and Hai Duong (303,433).

On March 22, an additional 186,137. more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 4,468,805.

On Tuesday evening, a further 65 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 42,014. The high fatalities were reported in some localities including Hanoi (5), Bac Ninh (4), Cao Bang (4), Dong Nai (4), Quang Ninh (4), Ben Tre (3), Binh Duong (3), Ha Tinh (3), and Hai Duong (3).

Vietnam on March 21 administered 201,193 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, raising the total number of doses given to local people to over 202.02 million.
