The Vietnamese Ministry of Health on Friday reported an additional 188,440 Covid-19 infections, raising the country's patient tally to over 5,44 million.
According to the ministry's report, most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in all 63 localities in the country with five localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (31,899), Nghe An (11,057), Phu Tho (6,352), Bac Ninh (6,346), and Binh Duong (5,574). Vinh Phuc Province today also added 19,326 new infections to the national tally.
As of Friday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 5,448,935. The country now stands 20th among 225 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (563,711), Hanoi (553,422), Binh Duong (333,504), Bac Ninh (212,056), and Nghe An (194,263).
On March 11, an additional 74,857 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 2,983,222.
On Friday evening, a further 71 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 41,228. The high fatalities were reported in some localities including Hanoi (11), Phu Yen (4), Bac Giang (3), Binh Dinh (3), Dong Nai (3), Gia Lai (3), and Ha Nam (3).
Vietnam on March 10 administered 372,742 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, raising the total number of doses given to local people to over 199.27 million.
