The Vietnamese Ministry of Health on Thursday reported an additional 218,459 Covid-19 infections, raising the country's patient tally to over 5,26 million.
According to the ministry's report, most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in all 63 localities in the country with five localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (30,157), Nghe An (11,141), Phu Tho (5,891), Binh Duong (5,302), and Son La (4,891). Three provinces of Thanh Hoa, Vinh Phuc and Binh Dinh today also added 30,000, 21,182, and 6,601 new infections respectively to the national tally.
As of Thursday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 5,260,495 . The country now stands 20th among 225 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (560,671), Hanoi (521,523), Binh Duong (327,930), Bac Ninh (205,710), and Nghe An (183,206).
On March 10, an additional 53,151 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 2,908,365.
On Thursday evening, a further 71 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 41,157. The high fatalities were reported in some localities including Hanoi (13), Binh Duong (4), Hoa Binh (4), Binh Dinh (3), Binh Thuan (3), Ca Mau (3), Danang (3), and Ha Nam (3).
Vietnam on March 9 administered 244,960 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, raising the total number of doses given to local people to nearly 199 million.
