According to Hoang Anh Hong, head of the ward’s medical station, the station currently has to work around the clock, even at the weekend. The station staff have to work from early morning to receive Covid-19 patient health declarations, conduct Covid-19 testing and then support those who are being treated at home.

Every day, the medical staff in Tuong Mai Ward can’t remember exactly how many calls they get related to Covid-19.

When getting a call for helping patients who are in a worsened condition, the station medical staff brings SpO2 machines, blood pressure monitors and oxygen tanks and other necessary equipment with them to their house. In many cases, they have to assist Covid-19 patients at midnight, Hong added.

Tuong Mai Ward medical station is a three-floor building and most of the rooms are now being used for the Covid-19 prevention and control. The third floor is also serving as the quarantine area for the Covid-19-infected staff.

Up to six among nine staff of the station have contracted Covid-19, but they have to work while being quarantined. It is common for them to have lunch at 2 pm and dinner at 10 pm.

Dao Thi Thu Hang, chairwoman of Tuong Mai Ward, the ward has received support from 400,000 volunteers for the Covid-19 fight who are from different groups, including police and doctors.

Many other wards and communes in Hanoi are in the same situation as Tuong Mai.
