According to GSO, the country saw 7,284 newly-licensed companies in February with registered capital of over VND85.2 trillion (USD3.67 billion), employing 72,600 people. The figures represented a decline of 44 percent in numbers of new businesses, 55.7 percent fall in registered capital and 5.8 percent drop in new employment against January. Compared to the same period of last year, these figures saw a drop of 29.4 percent, 52.6 percent and 27.4 percent respectively.

Vietnam saw a decline in both the number of newly-established enterprises and registered capital in February
The average registered capital of a newly established enterprise in May was around VND11.7 billion, down 20.9 perccent compared to January and 47.7 percent year-on-year.
In February, 4,071 companies resumed their operations, down 78.7 percent month-on-month and 11.6 percent on-year.
In the first two months of this year, the country licensed 20,300 new businesses with a total registered capital of VND277.6 trillion and 159,700 workers. These figures represented a rise of 11.9 percent in the number of businesses, but a decrease of 17.1 in registered capital value and 13.4 percent in employees respectively against the same phase of 2021.
