Nguyen Thi Ty, 42, in Binh Dinh Province's Tay Son District told the media on Monday evening that she still couldn't contact her son Nguyen Van Nghia.
According to the mother, the 19-year-old left home for HCM City to study at the HCMC University of Technology and Education on February 11 and hasn’t been heard of since.
"He caught a passenger bus which left Binh Dinh on the evening of February 11 and arrived at Mien Dong Bus Station in HCM City at 5 am on February 2," the mother said. "A relative came to pick him up at the station but couldn’t find him."
Ty said that Nghia was wearing a black jacket, black trousers, black hat and carrying a black suitcase.
"After he got on the bus on the evening of February 11, I called him telling him to call a cousin to come and pick him up when arriving at the station in HCM City," the mother said. "But on the morning of February 12, the cousin called me saying that she was at the station but couldn’t contact Nghia."
The mother said that Nghia was a first-year student and he had studied online during the first semester.
"This is the first time he’s been to HCM City so we’re very worried," she said.
Nghia's cousin Ho Thi Cam Nhung said that she came to pick him up at 5 am on February 12 at Mien Dong Bus Station and called him but his number did not connect.
"Checking a camera at the station, I found that he left the station right after getting off the bus," she said.
The family is calling for help from the police and the media to find the man.
