Vietnam reported an additional 29,413 Covid-19 infections on Monday, which is the highest daily infection tally reported so far in the country, according to the Ministry of Health.
According to the ministry's report, 29,403 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in all 63 localities in the country with five localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (3,507), Hai Duong (1,915), Hai Phong (1,489), Nghe An (1,385), and Lang Son (1,379). There were 10 imported cases confirmed the same day.
The new infections showed an increase of 3,031 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 20,924 infections found in the community.
As of Monday evening, 2,533,101 infections had been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (516,136), Binh Duong (293,363), Hanoi (172,021), Dong Nai (100,094), and Tay Ninh (88,770). Vietnam has so far confirmed 198 Omicron-infected cases.
With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 2,540,273. The country now stands 34th among 225 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.
On February 14, an additional 6,193 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 2,232,947.
On Monday evening, a further 91 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 39,037. The high fatalities were reported in some localities including Hanoi (19), Danang (11), Kien Giang (8), Dong Nai (7), Nam Dinh (7), Hai Duong (5), and Vinh Long (5).
Vietnam on February 13 administered 247,072 doses of Covid-19 vaccines. The country has so far conducted over 186.00 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, including over 74.74 million people having received two doses and over 32.04 million people having received three doses.
