Additional 26,379 Covid-19 infections confirmed on Sunday

According to the ministry's report, 26,372 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 58 out of 63 localities in the country with five localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (2,940), Hai Duong (1,906), Nam Dinh (1,894), Hai Phong (1,483), and Thai Nguyen (1,281). There were seven imported cases confirmed the same day.

The new infections showed a decrease of 930 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 18,269 infections found in the community.

As of Sunday evening, 2,503,698 infections had been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (515,851), Binh Duong (293,300), Hanoi (168,514), Dong Nai (100,063), and Tay Ninh (88,749). Vietnam has so far confirmed 197 Omicron-infected cases.

With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 2,510,860. The country now stands 34th among 225 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.

On February 13, an additional 7,815 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 2,226,754.

On Sunday evening, a further 84 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 38,946. The high fatalities were reported in some localities including Hanoi (14), Dong Nai (7), Danang (6), Hai Phong (6), Kien Giang (6), An Giang (4), Binh Dinh (4), and Vinh Long (4).

Vietnam on February 12 administered 476,560 doses of Covid-19 vaccines. The country has so far conducted over 185.73 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, including over 74.72 million people having received two doses and over 31.79 million people having received three doses.
