The Temple of Literature in Hanoi has attracted lots of visitors coming to pray for good academic results despite being closed for Covid-19 prevention.

On the third day of the Lunar New Year, many visitors, especially young people were seen gathering at the site.

People placed offerings and sent prayers from outside of closed gates.

Students came to seek blessings for a good academic year.

Many students queued up to get blessed with calligraphy in red or yellow do paper.

Calligraphy, mostly Chinese letters symbolising what people wish in their lives, like good health, good studies, happiness and wealth, are usually much sought after during Lunar New Year Festival.

A calligrapher, Luu Duc Hanh, was busy with lots of orders.

A student, Yen Nhi, said that she asked for some calligraphy to hope for good luck in her coming university entrance exam.

The Temple of Literature, built in 1070, is Vietnam's first university.
