According to HCM City’s Field Hospital 16, the 58-year-old man was received by South Korea’s Gangnam Severance Hospital on January 22.

The patient had breathing difficulties and high blood pressure On January 6. He tested positive for Covid-19 at a hospital in District 7. Because of his worsened condition, he was moved to Field Hospital 16.

He then had to use the Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) method.

Doctor Giang Minh Nhat Field Hospital 16’s intensive care ward said that the patient was hospitalised in a serious condition due to an autoimmune system Cytokine storm. He also suffers from underlying diseases like high blood pressure and diabetes.

After nine days of intensive treatment, he saw improvement. His family wanted to bring him home and they hired an aircraft for the transportation.

Field Hospital 16 contacted Gangnam Severance Hospital in Seoul for consultation on the case and discussed the plan to send him to the hospital.
