A whale weighing around 10 tonnes was found dead this morning in the northern central province of Thanh Hoa.
A whale weighing around 10 tonnes was found dead in the northern central province of Thanh Hoa on January 27.
According to chairman of Tien Trang Communal People's Committee, Nguyen Thi Lien, the whale body was drifted ashore to Tien Trang beach in Quang Xuong District. It was over seven metres in length and nearly 10 tonnes in weight.
Local authorities and fishermen held a traditional whale worship ceremony at the site before burying it.
Most of the households in Quang Xuong District have lived on fishing for many generations and they have a tradition of whale worshiping.
