The incident happened on Tuesday when 40 people who represented around 160 staff members of Tue Tinh Hospital were on strike to protest about long salary delays.
Le Thanh Binh from the hospital’s Accountant Department said that her colleagues have sent petitions to management board for help many times, but the problem had not yet been settled.

Dozens of staff at a hospital Tue Tinh Hospital in Hanoi have gone on strike to ask for their backdated salaries to be paid
Over the past eight months, the hospital has still owed half of the staff’s salary. Binh herself has received around a VND-2 million (USD 87) salary per month during the period.
Many people have quit their jobs, while others have struggled to earn their living with the monthly salary of 1-3 million, Binh added.
However, the head of wards at the hospital is fully paid every month.
Meanwhile, according to the management board of the hospital, since January 2019, the hospital has applied the self-financing mechanism.
Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of patients has sharply declined, affecting the hospital’s income.
In the first quarter of 2021, the capacity of the hospital’s sickbeds was around 15 percent. The rate increased to 51.19 percent in the second quarter and fell to 12.1 percent in the third quarter.
Following the information about the strike by hospital staff, Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long has requested Tue Tinh Hospital co-operate with ministry agencies to ensure the rights of the staff before January 20.
