According to the provincial people’s committee, only Dong Dang Railway Station and the two border gates of Huu Nghi and Chi Ma in Lang Son are currently carrying out customs clearance of exports to China. However, the customs clearance capacity of these border gates remains limited due to China’s tighter control over goods for Covid-19 prevention with around 50-60 vehicles served every day.

This has resulted in serious congestion at the border gates. To date, up to 1,721 container trucks are still stranded at Lang Son border gates, including 749 ones transporting fresh fruits.
So, the province has decided to refuse to receive fresh fruit vehicles in the next 13-15 days to mitigate the jams.
Since late November, the number of goods transported to Lang Son border gates has sharply risen. On January 5-10, an additional 680 vehicles arrived at Lang Son's border gates. Meanwhile, Tan Thanh Border Gate remain closed.
The sluggish customs clearance has affected the quality of products, particularly fresh fruits, as well as caused higher fees for companies.
Lang Son authorities will continue working with the Chinese side on reopening more border gates and improving the speed of customs clearance.
