Hanoi People’s Committee Chairman Chu Ngoc Anh has called on localities to set up mobile Covid-19 vaccination groups amid the city’s increasing Covid-19 cases.

According to the chairman, wards and communes in Hanoi need to pay close attention to people who face high risk of Covid-19 infection.

Localities have been asked to establish mobile teams that would visit households for Covid-19 vaccinations with the priority to elderly people and those with underlying medical conditions. This is aimed to mitigate the worsening health of patients and an increased death rate.

The Hanoi Department of Health is in charge of managing the Covid-19 vaccine use in localities.

By January 6, Hanoi had recorded a total 35,547 Covid-19 patients, including 25,792 being treated at home.

Amid a sharp rise in new daily Covid-19 infections, many wards and communes in Hanoi are overburdened by Covid-19 treatment requirements.

The Ministry of Health has provided Hanoi with an additional 200,000 doses of the Molnupiravir anti-Covid-19 drug.

The drug will be used for Covid-19 patients who are 18 or older and display no or mild symptoms. The priority will be given to people aged over 50 or those with underlying medical conditions.
