All mass gatherings in the district will also be restricted as a Covid-19 prevention measure. Dining services are only allowed to be open to 9 pm for takeaway orders.

Hoan Kiem District will set up check-points, particularly around Hoan Kiem Lake, to serve Covid-19 prevention during the New Year occasion. Parking lots will be banned during this time.

Local authorities have also considered banning some roads to prevent gatherings during the New Year Holiday.

Hanoi’s Vice Party Secretary Nguyen Van Phong said that over the recent days, Hanoi had topped the country in terms of new Covid-19 cases. The figure would be higher in the coming time as the Lunar New Year is approaching. Around 140,000 Vietnamese abroad could return to Vietnam to celebrate Tet.
