Giang A Tinh, a security guard at the mountain said that the snow was seen at Fansipan for around 10 minutes.
Snow appeared on Mount Fansipan in the northern province of Lao Cai on Sunday afternoon
According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, since Sunday afternoon, the cold weather has affected the northern and northern central regions. The temperature in high mountainous areas, including Sapa, have sharply dropped. Mount Fansipan would continue facing snow.
The cable car system at Mount Fansipan is expected to be reopened this week, offering opportunities for travellers to see snow.
The strong cold weather would hit northern and northern central localities until the end of December 28 with a temperature of 9-12 degrees centigrade.
