Eight districts in Hanoi only allow food and beverage establishments to serve takeaways

Following the two districts of Dong Da and Hai Ba Trung, six more central districts of Ba Dinh, Hoan Kiem, Hoang Mai, Long Bien, Nam Tu Liem, and Tay Ho have also decided to only allow food and beverage establishments to serve takeaways and limit large gatherings starting from Sunday. Restaurants and cafes must also be closed before 9 pm.

Those eight out of 12 districts in the capital city are now classified as having high coronavirus risks.

The two districts of Hoan Kiem and Tay Ho will not allow meetings and events with more than 20 people in one room, and no gathering of 10 or more people outside of offices, schools or hospitals.

Those participating in such meetings/events must show certificates proving they are fully vaccinated, recovered from Covid-19 and tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 within 72 hours, as well as strictly follow virus prevention rules.

All cultural, sports and recreational activities in public places were stopped too.

High-schools that have opened for 12th graders earlier have closed and students have returned to online classes.

Residents are advised to stay indoors unless for necessary reasons.

Hanoi has recently become an epicentre with thousands of new infections confirmed daily. The city recorded a total of 13,779 cases in a week between December 19-26, including 1,910 cases confirmed on Sunday.
