Dan was taken to the hospital while he was in a coma with severe respiratory failure. Dan’s family still owed Bach Mai Hospital and treatment fees of around VND200 million.
Dan’s condition has improved after the intensive treatment, but he is suffering from paralysis in the left side of his body and a lung infection.
According to Tuyen, his family’s income mostly depends on farming. Since his son was hospitalised, the family has been facing more hardship. Meanwhile, his wife has been sentenced to two years in prison.
His youngest child, 13, has had to leave school because of the family’s financial difficulties.
Tuyen added that Dan had come to Nam Dinh City to work at a photocopy shop to support the family. He tried to save money to send to his father.
