The inauguration ceremony of the monument is held on December 21 in Quang Binh Province.

The inauguration ceremony of the monument was held on December 21 in Bo Trach District on the occasion of the 110th birthday of General Vo Nguyen Giap.

The project, which has an investment of VND 27 billion, includes a temple, a monument, a lake, a yard and a garden.

Speaking at the event, Permanent Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, Ngo Van Cuong said that the monument was built to show the country's respect to the young war dead.

"We hope that this monument will become a tourist destination and help educate young people about the war and this historical place," he said.

Quang Binh Province was among the areas hardest hit during the American War. Thousands of young people in the province had volunteered to join the war, who mostly took part in transporting food and weapons from the North to the Southern battlefields. Many of them had died in the US bombardments.

On January 13, 1973, 156 young people died while transporting goods when the US bombed Gianh Port in Bo Trach District.
