The International Junior Science Olympiad is an annual contest for students aged 15 held rotationally by countries’ the Ministry of Education and Training.

Vietnamese students have won four gold medals and two silver medals at the 2021 International Junior Science Olympiad.
This year’s contest hosted by UAE between December 12-22 has attracted nearly 400 students from 59 countries and territories.
The Hanoi Department of Education and Training has been responsible for selecting representatives to participate in the competition over the past 10 years.
The Vietnamese team participating in the IJSO 2021 comprises six students from Grade 10 at the Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted.
Students have to deal with three tests including a multiple-choice examination, theoretical examination and practical examination.
Three gold medal winners are La Chau Giang, Bui Tuan Kien, Nguyen Phuong Thuy and Trinh Minh Anh. Meanwhile, two silver medals belong to Nguyen Trinh Bao Nhu and Trinh Ninh Ngoc Mai.
This was Vietnam’s best results in the competition so far.
