Vietnam reported an additional 15,311 Covid-19 infections in 61 out of 63 cities and provinces on Thursday, according to the Ministry of Health.

According to the ministry's report, 15,300 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 61 out of 63 localities in the country including HCM City (1,453), Tay Ninh (895), Hanoi (822), Soc Trang (789), Dong Thap (730), Ca Mau (720), Can Tho (670), Binh Phuoc (631), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (576), Vinh Long (568), Tien Giang (568), Ben Tre (517), Dong Nai (501), Khanh Hoa (494), Binh Duong (489), Bac Lieu (427), Binh Dinh (345), Dak Lak (317), Kien Giang (314), An Giang (300), Tra Vinh (295), Hau Giang (275), Binh Thuan (249), and Lam Dong (210). There were 11 imported patients confirmed today.
The new infections showed an increase of 705 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 8,843 infections found in the community.
As of Thursday evening, 1,362,111 infections had been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (483,376), Binh Duong (286,078), Dong Nai (91,056), Long An (39,039), and Tay Ninh (35,980).
With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 1,367,433. The country now stands 33rd among 223 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.
On December 9, an additional 14,586 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 1,050,979 .
On Thursday evening, a further 256 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 27,186. The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (76), An Giang (37), Tay Ninh (16), Binh Duong (16), Dong Nai (13), Tien Giang (11), Kien Giang (11), Dong Thap (17), Can Tho (10), Vinh Long (8 ), Long An (6), Binh Thuan (5), Ben Tre (5), Soc Trang (5), Dak Lak (4), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (3), Hau Giang (3), Bac Lieu (2), Hanoi (1), Bac Ninh (1), Binh Dinh (1), Ninh Thuan (1), Hai Phong (1), Khanh Hoa (1), Lam Dong (1), and Ca Mau (1).
Vietnam on December 8 administered 662,110 doses of Covid-19 vaccines. The country has so far conducted over 129.96 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 55.92 million people having received two doses.
