According to the ministry's report, 14,595 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 58 out of 63 localities in the country including HCM City (1,475), Tay Ninh (874), Soc Trang (781), Binh Phuoc (747), Ben Tre (740), Dong Thap (725), Can Tho (676), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (539), Vinh Long (525), Ca Mau (511), Khanh Hoa (489), Dong Nai (461), Binh Duong (455), Tra Vinh (443), Bac Lieu (438), Kien Giang (422), Hanoi (396), Tien Giang (307), An Giang (279), Hai Phong (265), Binh Thuan (262), Hau Giang (248), Binh Dinh (234), and Thanh Hoa (219). There were four imported patients confirmed today.

The new infections showed a decrease of 760 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 8,322 infections found in the community.

As of Wednesday evening, 1,346,811 infections had been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (481,923), Binh Duong (285,589), Dong Nai (90,555), Long An (38,960), and Tay Ninh (35,085).

With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 1,352,122. The country now stands 33rd among 223 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.

On December 8, an additional 24,737 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 1,036,393.

On Wednesday evening, a further 230 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 26,930. The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (75), An Giang (24), Dong Nai (18), Binh Duong (16), Tien Giang (14), Long An (13), Vinh Long (12), Kien Giang (12), Tay Ninh (11), Can Tho (10), Soc Trang (4), Lam Dong (3), Ca Mau (3), Tra Vinh (2), Khanh Hoa (2), Binh Phuoc (2), Binh Thuan (2), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (2), Hanoi (1), Hai Phong (1), Hoa Binh (1), Nghe An (1), Ben Tre (1).

Vietnam on December 7 administered 861,193 doses of Covid-19 vaccines. The country has so far conducted over 129.40 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 55.50 million people having received two doses.
