A traffic congestion in Hanoi
The plan has been proposed to the city people's council and is expected to start implementation from the end of this year.
According to the committee's proposal, the city will target to solve traffic congestion at up to 10 areas annually while trying to prevent the problem for other areas. Hanoi will also aim to reduce the number of traffic accidents by between 5 -10 percent a year.
To achieve that goal, the committee proposed 11 solutions in which focus will be put on some key solutions such as completing traffic construction projects.
Construction of high buildings will also be tightly controlled in the city centre while universities, factories, and hospitals will be moved to the outskirts in order to have more spaces for transport construction projects. The committee proposed that land area for transport projects will make up between 12-15 percent of total land for all construction projects by 2025. The rate was 8.65 in 2015 and 10.07 percent in 2020.
The proposed funding for the plan is over VND 1.80 trillion in which VND560 billion will be spent on 180 road projects; VND 419 billion spent on the installation of traffic lights and some other road traffic equipment; VND404 on road upgrade.
