Covid-19 infections continue to rise in Vietnam

Vietnam has continued to report rising numbers of Covid-19 infections with an additional 14,508 cases confirmed on Wednesday, according to the Ministry of Health.

According to the ministry's report, 14,506 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 60 out of 63 localities in the country including HCM City (1,675), Can Tho (989), Soc Trang (757), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (756), Tay Ninh (729), Binh Duong (642), Dong Thap (610), Vinh Long (585), Binh Thuan (584), Binh Phuoc (515), Dong Nai (509), Ca Mau (507), Kien Giang (479), Hanoi (467), Ben Tre (419), Bac Lieu (402), Khanh Hoa (365), Dak Lak (342), Hau Giang (291), An Giang (244), Tra Vinh (240), Binh Dinh (234), and Lam Dong (222). There were two imported patients confirmed today.

The new infections showed an increase of 540 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 8,081 infections found in the community.

As of Wednesday evening, 1,247,358 infections had been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (472,133), Binh Duong (282,873), Dong Nai (87,755), Long An (38,323), and Tien Giang (29,357).

With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 1,252,590. The country now stands 35th among 223 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.

On December 1, an additional 2,704 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 992,052.

On Wednesday evening, a further 196 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 25,448. The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (68 ), Dong Nai (20), Binh Duong (19), An Giang (17), Tay Ninh (13), Kien Giang (13), Tien Giang (8 ), Dong Thap (6), Can Tho (6), Bac Lieu (5), Binh Thuan (4), Long An (4), Vinh Long (3), Soc Trang (2), Ben Tre (2), Ca Mau (2), Hanoi (1), Phu Tho (1), Tra Vinh (1), and Khanh Hoa (1).

Vietnam on November 30 administered more than 1.34 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines. The country has so far conducted over 123.44 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 51.70 million people having received two doses.
