November CPI increases by 0.32%

The Consumer Price Index in November grew by 0.32 percent against October and up 2.1 percent on-year, the General Statistics Office reported.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in November grew by 0.32 percent against October and up 2.1 percent on-year, the General Statistics Office (GSO) reported.

The rise was attributed to the rise in petroleum prices and consumer goods and services in localities where Covid-19 had been brought under control.

Out of 11 groups of main commodities and services, nine saw price hikes.

The transport group witnessed the highest month-on-month increase of 3.11 percent which was due to the fuel price hike. Prices of housing and construction materials increased by 0.46 percent against October and electricity saw a rise of 1.04 percent. The consumer goods and services experienced a rise of 0.33 percent compared to October.

According to the GSO, in the first eleven months of this year, the CPI rose by 1.84 percent on-year, the lowest level since 2016.

Meanwhile, education prices decreased by 0.92 percent against October, while food and catering services dropped 0.17 percent.
