Nha Trang island to be developed into tourism centre

Hon Tre Island in Nha Trang City in the southern central province of Khanh Hoa has been identified as a potential tourism hub.

Hon Tre Island in Nha Trang City in the southern central province of Khanh Hoa has been identified as a potential tourism hub.

A plan to develop Hon Tre Island into a tourism hub is among the contents of a newly-revised master plan for Nha Trang by 2025 and a vision until 2040 which has been announced to seek public opinion.

Hon Tre Island which is now home to 1,500 people receives around 1.9 million tourists annually.

Under the master plan, the island’s total population would be raised to 4,600 people and the yearly number of tourists would reach 9,000-19,000 by 2025. By this year, many facilities for eco-tourism development would be built on the island, including 20-floor hotels and entertainment services.

The island’s total planning area would be nearly 1,350 hectares.
