Vietnam has continued to report a rise in the number of new Covid-19 infections with an additional 11,132 cases confirmed in 61 localities on Tuesday, according to the Ministry of Health.
According to the ministry's report, 11,126 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 61 out of 63 localities in the country including HCM City (1,204), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (709), Binh Duong (698), Tay Ninh (600), Dong Thap (597), Dong Nai (571), Binh Phuoc (509), Vinh Long (505), Binh Thuan (493), Bac Lieu (474), Soc Trang (395), Can Tho (354), Kien Giang (350), An Giang (320), Tra Vinh (295), Hanoi (260), Ca Mau (252), and Ben Tre (236). There were six imported patients confirmed today.
The new infections showed an increase of 827 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 6,010 infections found in the community.
As of Tuesday evening, 1,110,836 infections had been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (459,123), Binh Duong (277,406), Dong Nai (83,385), Long An (37,554), and Tien Giang (24,056).
With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 1,143,967. The country now stands 37th among 223 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.
On November 23, an additional 1,034 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 911,310.
On Tuesday evening, a further 167 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 24,118. The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (62), An Giang (28), Binh Duong (12), Dong Nai (11), Long An (9), Kien Giang (7), Can Tho (7), Tay Ninh (6), Tien Giang (5), Dong Thap (3), Vinh Long (3), Ca Mau (3), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (2), Ben Tre (2), Soc Trang (2), Quang Ngai (1), Tra Vinh (1), Lam Dong (1), Ninh Thuan (1), and Bac Lieu (1).
Vietnam on November 22 administered more than two million doses of Covid-19 vaccines. The country has so far conducted over 110.91 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 43.57 million people having received two doses.
