Rising number of community Covid-19 infections reported on Sunday

According to the ministry's report, 9,882 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 57 out of 63 localities in the country including HCM City (1,265), Binh Duong (683), Dong Nai (604), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (541), Dong Thap (508), Binh Thuan (493), Tay Ninh (410), Soc Trang (399), Kien Giang (361), Bac Lieu (356), Can Tho (341), Ca Mau (330), Vinh Long (311), Tra Vinh (260), An Giang (242), Ben Tre (220), and Hanoi (216). There were seven imported patients confirmed today.

The new infections showed an increase of 364 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 5,361 infections found in the community.

As of Sunday evening, 1,089,411 infections had been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (456,372), Binh Duong (248,020), Dong Nai (82,292), Long An (37,324), and Tien Giang (23.867).

With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 1,094,514 . The country now stands 37th among 223 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.

On November 21, an additional 5,163 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 905,500.

On Sunday evening, a further 76 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 23,671. The deaths were reported in some localities including Binh Duong (15), Long An (8 ), An Giang (7), Dong Nai (7), Tien Giang (6), Can Tho (6), Tay Ninh (5), Kien Giang (5), Soc Trang (4), Bac Lieu (4), Binh Thuan (3), Dong Thap (2), Vinh Long (2), Quang Ngai (1), and Ca Mau (1).

Vietnam on November 20 administered more than 1.29 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines. The country has so far conducted over 107.86 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 41.15 million people having received two doses.
