Hoa Binh Reservoir

The Vinaconex Water Supply Joint Stock Company (Viwasupco) has announced that the water level at Hoa Binh Reservoir was only about 61% that of last year, which is affecting freshwater production of the Da River Water Plant.

"Water at the Da River is being used for several purposes while there have been almost no floods this year," the company said. "To ensure water supply for rice planting activities during the coming Winter-Spring crop, and fresh water production at our plant, the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant has had to reduce their power generation capacity."

Viwasupco has warned about a possible water shortage in some areas in the coming time and advised their customers to save water.

At present, the Da River Water Plant has total capacity of producing 300,000 cubic metres every 24 hours and is providing fresh water to some districts in Hanoi including Quoc Oai, Thach That, Hoai Duc, Dan Phuong, Thanh Tri, Hoang Mai, Thanh Xuan, Ha Dong, Cau Giay, and Nam Tu Liem.

Meanwhile, the Hanoi Construction Department said that if the Da River Water Plant cannot supply enough water to people in these areas, they will try to regulate water supply from other water plants including the Duong River Water Plant and the Bac Thang Long Water Plant.
