Bui Van Truong, 56, and Tran Thi Nhuy, 51, have two daughters and one son.

Truong has been living with brain injury for many years after an occupational accident. Since then, he has stayed at home.
In 2016, the couple’s youngest daughter Bui Thi Trang was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Despite experiencing surgery, her health did not improve much. She had to leave school when she was in Grade 8.
In 2019, Nhuy struggled with difficulty breathing and was diagnosed with lung cancer. Some days ago, her only son Bui Manh Cuong, 18, was also diagnosed with a brain tumour as well.
Cuong’s tumour is too big so it is impossible for him to have surgery. He is now being treated at K Hospital in Hanoi.

According to Nhuy, she had used her house as collateral, but now she does not know how to borrow more money for her son’s treatment.
Nhuy has turned down her treatment because of the family’s financial difficulties. She wants to prioritise the treatment of her son.
Le Ha Kien, Vice Chairman of the Fatherland Front in Van Ninh Commune, called on the public to help Nhuy’s family. She hoped that more donors could assist them.
