CEO of Hong Ngoc General Hospital, Nguyen Ngoc Long on Monday came to Dantri/Dtinews' headquarters in Hanoi to send the donations to the villagers in Tri Le Commune in Nghe An Province's Que Phong District. Long said that they knew about the story of the poor villagers who needed a bridge in Nghe An through Dantri/Dtinews Online Newspaper and wanted to send them some support.
"We think that this is a very meaningful project and want to contribute some to help local people there have a proper bridge for their safe travelling," he said.
Receiving the donations, Editor-in-Chief of Dantri/Dtinews Online Newspaper, Pham Tuan Anh expressed his thanks to Hong Ngoc General Hospital for joining with the newspaper to help people in Tri Le Commune in Nghe An.
He expressed hopes to receive more support from the hospital to other projects of the newspapers to help build more schools and bridges for people in the remote and mountainous regions of the country.
Lying some 200 kilometres from Vinh City, Que Phong District lies along the border with Laos. Nam Tot is one of the poorest villages in the district with nearly 300 people from the Mong ethnic group. There is only one rugged, unpaved road to the village which runs through high mountains, lush forests, and across a large stream.
Village head Ly Ba Tua said local villagers had built a small wooden bridge over the stream. However, over time the 20-metre-long and 1.3-metre-wide bridge was no longer safe.

"We often feel very frightened when having to cross the deteriorating bridge, especially in flooding season," Tua said. "We’ve asked the district's authorities to help build a proper bridge to ensure people's safe travelling."
Speaking to Dantri/Dtinews, vice chairman of Que Phong District People's Committee, Bui Van Hien, said they had seen the need to build a proper bridge in Nam Tot Village but have not been able to arrange funds.
"We’ve calculated the cost of construction of a bridge of 20 metres in length and 1.3 metres wide would be between 600 - 700 million (USD 26,086-30,434)," the official said. "At present, we don't have funds for this project and we want to call for financial support from the public to help the poor villagers in Nam Tot."
