The family of the couple Vo Van Khoa, 43, and Le Thi Ni, 41, in Thanh Phu District’s Quoi Dien Commune are among the poorest in the locality.

Ni is in a critical condition facing diabetes, kidney failure and heart disease. She has been bed-ridden after a stroke last year.
Kha’s 16-year-old son Vo Nhat Duy is also struggling with diabetes, and is on treatment costing VND2.4 million per month. Meanwhile, his daughter Vo Thi Kim Huynh is living with inborn pneumonia.
Kha also has to take care of his wife's brother and sister who both have mental problems.

Since his wife’s condition worsened, he has mostly stayed at home, causing more financial difficulties for the family.
Local authorities offered his family a preferential loan to raise goats. He also works as a security guard at a shrimp farm with a modest salary of VND1 million per month.
His family has incurred a total debt of VND200 million. Every month, Kha’s family receives a subsidy of VND540,000 million from the government. They are desperate for help from the public.
