The Hanoi Department of Transport has just asked authorities in the four local districts where the Cat Linh-Ha Dong metro line runs through to arrange enough parking area for passengers.

The department suggested using the pavements and the space under the stairs at the stations along the metro route for temporary parking and asked the districts to send a list of parking areas to the department for approval.
According to deputy director of the Hanoi Transport Department, Do Viet Hai, they have received complaints from passengers of the route about a lack of parking area for their motorbikes and bicycles.
"Many people have complained about being charged high parking fees by parking lots which have been illegally set up near the stations," the official said. "We will try to clear all these illegal lots and arrange parking areas."
The Cat Linh-Ha Dong was officially put into operation on November 6. The country's first metro route is offering a 15-day free travel and has seen many people come to get their first experience of the line.
