Vietnam recorded 7,491 more Covid-19 infections on Saturday and 1,754 more patients recovered from the disease the same day, according to the Ministry of Health.
According to the ministry's report, 7,480 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 55 out of 63 localities in the country including Dong Nai (1,085), HCM City (986), Binh Duong (921), An Giang (490), Kien Giang (475), Ca Mau (318), Tay Ninh (267), Bac Lieu (265), Tien Giang (229), Binh Thuan (205), Soc Trang (203), Can Tho (201), Dong Thap (198), Ha Giang (146), Long An (142), and Hanoi. There were 11 imported patients confirmed today.
The new infections showed a decrease of seven cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 3,108 infections found in the community.
As of Saturday evening, 956,126 infections had been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (437,615), Binh Duong (238,079), Dong Nai (71,176), Long An (35,642), and Tien Giang (17,871).
With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 961,038. The country now stands 38th among 223 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.
On November 6, an additional 1,754 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 839,101.
On Saturday evening, a further 58 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 22,470. The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (32), Binh Duong (5), Kien Giang (5), Dong Nai (4), Bac Lieu (2), Ca Mau (2), Dong Thap (2), Binh Dinh (1), Soc Trang (1), Lam Dong (1), Binh Thuan (1), Long An (1), and Can Tho (1).
Vietnam on November 5 administered more than 2.02 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines. The country has so far conducted over 88.40 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 28.14 million people having received two doses.
