Vietnam confirmed an additional 5,637 Covid-19 infections in 52 localities on Tuesday, according to the Ministry of Health.
According to the ministry's report, 5,613 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 52 localities including Dong Nai (858), Binh Duong (780), HCM City (682), Kien Giang (421), Bac Lieu (316), An Giang (314), Tien Giang (202), Soc Trang (165), Binh Thuan (164), Can Tho (146), Tay Ninh (131), Long An (116), and Bac Ninh (115). There were 24 imported patients confirmed today.
The new infections showed an increase of 18 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 2,258 infections found in the community.
As of Tuesday evening, 927,494 infections had been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (433,751), Binh Duong (234,520), Dong Nai (67,294), Long An (35,063), and Tien Giang (17,009). The outbreak has so far spread to 62 out of 63 cities and provinces nationwide.
With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 932,357. The country now stands 40th among 223 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.
On November 2, an additional 2,741 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 824,806.
On Tuesday evening, a further 74 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 22,205. The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (31), Binh Duong (19), An Giang (6), Kien Giang (4), Dong Nai (4), Long An (3), Can Tho (2), Tien Giang (2), Tay Ninh (1), Khanh Hoa (1), and Dak Lak (1).
Vietnam on November 1 administered more than 1.27 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines. The country has so far conducted over 83.13 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 25.11 million people having received two doses.
