Vietnam confirmed an additional 5,598 Covid-19 infections on Monday, raising the patient tally in the country to 923,451, according to the Ministry of Health.
According to the ministry's report, 5,595 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 49 localities including HCM City (927), Binh Duong (682), Dong Nai (657), Kien Giang (469), Bac Lieu (382), An Giang (215), Soc Trang (194), Binh Thuan (167), Dak Lak (164), Tien Giang (163), Tay Ninh (157), Can Tho (149), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (109), and Long An (100). There were three imported patients confirmed today.
The new infections showed an increase of 91 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 2,321 infections found in the community.
As of Monday evening, 921,881 infections had been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (433,069), Binh Duong (233,740), Dong Nai (66,436), Long An (34,947), and Tien Giang (16,807). The outbreak has so far spread to 62 out of 63 cities and provinces nationwide.
With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 923,451. The country now stands 40th among 223 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.
On November 1, an additional 1,731 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 822,065.
On Monday evening, a further 52 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 22,135. The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (25), Binh Duong (11), Hoa Binh (4), Bac Lieu (3), Dong Nai (2), Can Tho (2), Ca Mau (1), Dong Thap (1), Ninh Thuan (1), Soc Trang (1), and Tay Ninh (1).
Vietnam on October 31 today administered more than 553,475 doses of Covid-19 vaccines. The country has so far conducted over 81.92 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 24.59 million people having received two doses.
