Speaking with the Vietnamnet Newspaper after the project's acceptance report was agreed last weekend, CEO of the Hanoi Metro Co. Ltd., Vu Hong Truong, said that fares will range from VND7,000-15,000 (USD0.30-0.65).
Passengers can also pay for a day pass for unlimited trips that will cost VND30,000. Meanwhile, a monthly pass will cost VND200,000 and half that for students and workers at industrial parks. For businesses buying the monthly pass for their employees, the rate will be VND140,000.
According to director of Hanoi Transport Department, Vu Van Vien, local authorities have co-operated with the Ministry of Transport to prepare for the official run of the metro line over the past recent months.
"We have not decided on the official operating day of the project yet but Deputy PM Le Van Thanh had asked the Transport Ministry to hand over the project to Hanoi's authorities before November 11," he said.
The State Inspection Council on October 29 agreed on the acceptance report for the project.
So far, 13 trains have received technical safety and environmental protection certificates from the Vietnam Register and a certificate from the Vietnam Fire and Rescue Police Department. They have also been put into trial runs since last December.
Invested by the Transport Ministry, the Cat Linh-Ha Dong metro line runs over 13 kilometres with 12 elevated stations from Cat Linh Ward in Dong Da District to Yen Nghia Ward in Ha Dong District.
The line has 13 trains with each four carriage-train capable of carrying over 900 passengers. The trains have a design speed of 80 kilometres per hour but the commercial run’s speed would be capped at an average of 35 kilometres per hour. The project has a total investment of USD 886 million.
