Vietnam reports falling number of Covid-19 infections

According to the ministry's report, 5,477 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 40 localities including HCM City (2,723), Binh Duong (1,517), Dong Nai (509), An Giang (139), and Long An (107). There were 13 imported patients confirmed today.

The new infection number showed a decrease of 1,464 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 3,004 infections found in the community.

As of Saturday evening, 798,626 infections have been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (395,052), Binh Duong (214,360), Dong Nai (49,839), Long An (32,682), and Tien Giang (14,107). The outbreak has so far spread to 62 out of 63 cities and provinces nationwide.

With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 803,202. The country now stands 43rd among 222 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.

On October 2, an additional 28,857 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 664,938.

On Saturday evening, a further 164 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 19,601. The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (123), Binh Duong (24), Dong Nai (5), Long An (5), Kien Giang (2), Quang Ngai (1), Tien Giang (1), An Giang (1), Binh Thuan (1), and Can Tho (1).

The country has so far conducted over 43.65 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 10.12 million people having received two doses.
