At 8 am this morning, September 20, hundreds of shippers queued for Covid-19 testing at a mobile medical station on Quang Trung Street in Go Vap District’s Ward 8.

Due to sheer numbers, it was impossible to ensure safe distancing for Covid-19 prevention. Shippers were required to declare their personal information before being tested.

The same situation happened at Covid-19 testing facility located at Quynh Huong Nursery School in Ward 17’s Nguyen Van Luong Street.

Medical workers were overloaded by the high number of shippers.

Security forces requested people to ensure a safe distance for Covid-29 prevention.

Bee shipper Le Hoang Nam, said that he had queued at 6 am, but one hour and a half later, he was still waiting for his turn. The jam has been occurring at Quynh Huong Nursery School’s Covid-19 testing spot over the past three days. Earlier, it took him 15-30 minutes to finish the testing.

Many people are worried such large gatherings could cause Covid-19 infections.

Shippers have been asked to be tested for Covid-19 free of charge every two days so that they can be allowed to work.
At present, up to 92,000 shippers in HCM City have registered to resume their work. Meanwhile, HCM City has around 500 mobile medical stations with 1,200 medical staff.
In the coming time, the municipal authorities and the Centre for Disease Control will support local mobile medical stations to provide quick Covid-19 testing for shippers.
