According to the police in Ham Tan District police checked a truck that was parking outside of a restaurant in Tan Duc Commune at 10 pm on September 12.

The truck was going from Dong Nai to Binh Thuan. The 39-year-old driver Le Van Tuan gave conflicting answers when being questioned by the police so they checked the container and found 15 people hiding inside.

Tuan and 15 passengers have negative Covid-19 test certification. The driver admitted to receiving VND700,000 (USD30) per person to bring them through the checkpoint. Another truck will pick the passenger up afterwards. The police later found two other drivers, two cars and a passenger bus related to the case.

The passengers were transported by different drivers from various places before they were gathered together in Dong Nai. From there, Tuan successfully transported them through many checkpoints before reaching Tan Duc Commune.

The drivers and passengers were ordered to return to Dong Nai Province. The case is being expanded.
