Many children are born with Covid-19-infected mothers in the virus hotspot of Ho Chi Minh City.

The Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung signed the decision on September 8. The support of VND1m (USD43) and VND2m will be given to children who are born with Covid-19-infected mothers and those who lost mothers or fathers due to the pandemic from April 27 to September 31. The fund will come from the National Fund for Vietnamese Children.

The ministry asked local authorities to take measures to prevent infection among the children. They were also asked to work with the National Fund for Vietnamese Children to simplify the procedures to provide financial support to the children as soon as possible.

In the fourth Covid-19 waves, many pregnant women and children have been infected and treated. As of August 31, 11,822 children were infected.

Many children have to go to quarantine centres alone or stay with relatives when all of the adults were quarantined.
